Tumoral Calcinosis in Chronic Renal Failure : Two Case Reports
نویسندگان
چکیده
Two cases of tumoral calcinosis occurring in patients with chronic renal failure on hemodialysis are described. The aetiology of tumoral calcinosis is described with particular reference to the patients presented. The metastatic calcification occurring in these two cases is most likely related to hyperphosphataemia and secondary hyperparathyroidism possibly aggravated by vitamin D therapy. Treatment was with withdrawal of vitamin D therapy, parathyroidectomy and stricter control of serum phosphate levels.

Secondary Tumoral Calcinosis with Intraosseous Penetration
We report a case of a 55-year-old woman with chronic renal failure and secondary tumoral calcinosis with rare intraosseous penetration of the humerus. Typical lobulated calcifications with associated layering "milk of calcium" were present about the right shoulder and elbow on conventional radiographs, computed tomography images and magnetic resonance images. Rare appearance of cortical destruc...

We report a case of a tumoral calcinosis mimicking the appearance of recurrent osteosarcoma of the left femur and tibia in a 29-year-old woman with a history of osteosarcoma and chronic renal failure. Both processes can appear radiographically and histologically similar. Due to loosening of the orthopedic hardware, our patient underwent surgical revision and biopsy. We review the imaging appear...
متن کاملTumoral Calcinosis Causing Bilateral Thigh Pain
We report a case of a 75-year-old female with bilateral thigh pain for several years secondary to soft tissue calcification. Massive calcinosis of the soft tissues is a unique, but not uncommon, radiographic finding. On the contrary, tumoral calcinosis is a rare familial disease. The term tumoral calcinosis has been overly used to describe any massive collection of periarticular calcification. ...
متن کاملMultimodality Imaging of Calcinosis of Chronic Renal Failure
Secondary tumoral calcinosis (STC) refers to periarticular calcified masses associated with an identifiable condition. The most common of these identifiable conditions is a chronic renal failure. We present a unique case in which massive periarticular masses in a patient with calcinosis of chronic renal failure (CCRF) are demonstrated in the shoulder and hip on sonography, radiography and compu...
